What is Waltham Group Blood Drive?
American Red Cross blood drives are held on campus three times a year in October, February, and April with assistance from student volunteers. Blood collected at these drives saves an average of 1,000 lives annually. Donors and volunteers are needed for the drives. Volunteers help advertise; recruit student, faculty and staff donors for the drives; and assist during the drives to ensure that they run safely and smoothly. Blood Drive engages over 300 members of the Brandeis community through their events, aiming to collect as many pints of blood as possible as each pint can save up to three lives, or five babies. This semester we look forward to continuing our work with a focus on advocacy, public health related updates, and human interest pieces through a volunteer-driven newsletter. We also hope to expose our volunteers to virtual volunteering opportunities offered by the Red Cross.
